The Alberta New Home Warranty Program (the “Program”) is pleased to announce that effective December 1, 2015, The New Home Warranty Insurance (Canada) Corporation (“NHWIC”), an insurance company governed by the provisions of the Insurance Act (Alberta), assumed all warranty liabilities and obligations of the Program.
The impact to policyholders and Builder Members is minimal.
The Program remains committed to ensuring that the products and services provided are second to none. Having warranty obligations underwritten by NHWIC ensures that the Program and its subsidiary group of companies remain focused on what is most important – continuing to be the premier provider of new home warranty and related products and services.
Homeowners and Builder Members will continue to communicate with the Program, just as they’ve always done. Underwriting and claims assessment responsibilities will be conducted by NHWIC.

The impact to you is minimal. There are no changes to the warranty coverage on your home or your dispute resolution options. As always, the Program is committed to providing the best possible customer service.
I am not the original homeowner and the assumption of liability letter was not addressed to me. Am I exempt from coverage?
The new home warranty coverage remains with the home not the homeowner. Please contact the Program at 1 800 352 8240 to update your homeowner information and receive access to the Homeowner Portal to review important warranty expiration dates.
