We're following the guidance of health experts at Alberta Health Services, the Government of Canada and the World Health Organization. Our responses are guided by the best information available as well as our commitment to protecting individual and public health. We want to ensure our employees and customers stay safe and are doing our part to minimize risk.
Changes to In-Home Assessments and Inspections
In light of ongoing developments resulting from COVID-19, effective Tuesday, March 17, 2020, the New Home Warranty Insurance Canada Corporation (NHWICC) is limiting in-home inspections to only those valid claims involving urgent health and safety matters (those matters primarily involving urgent water leaks, moisture, structural effects, and calls for no heat) and will work through those claims on a priority basis. All other in-home inspections will be rescheduled. We’re constantly monitoring the situation and will resume inspections as soon as we are able, consistent with public health guidance.
Our claims assessment team will take every precaution necessary as they make urgent in-person home assessments and will work with homeowners to postpone assessments on a case-by-case basis to mitigate personal and public risk as warranted.
